What is CMT? Charcot Marie Tooth Disease is a disease of the peripheral nerves that control muscles. It is the most commonly inherited peripheral neuropathy, affecting about 1 in 2,500 people of all races, ethnic groups, and genders. CMT is slowly progressive, causing loss of normal function and/or sensation in the lower legs, feet, arms, and hands. CMT is currently incurable.
